The Ministry of Transport, Thailand (MoT) is planning to construct a high speed railway line in Thailand.
The project involves the construction of a 655km high speed railway line between Chiang Khong and Ban Phachi.
The project will include the construction of railway stations, double track section, supportive tracks, maintenance buildings, and other related infrastructural facilities, and the installation of locomotives, related equipment, and signaling systems.
The Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP) has been mandated to undertake the feasibility study for the project.
In July 2014, the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) approved the project.
