The Ministry of Knowledge Economy (MKE) is planning to undertake the Tongyeong Gas-Fired Power Plant project at the Tongyeong Shipyard in Seongdong Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering in South Gyeongsang Province, South Korea.
The project involves the construction of a 920MW gas-fired power plant and is being implemented in two units with 460MW each.

In January 2017, The Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy (MOCIE) extended the deadline for three months with a condition to complete all preliminary procedures by March 30, 2017. Failing with fulfillment of the condition will lead to cancellation of the power generation business.
