Inter RAO Group (IRAO) and the Department of Industry and Trade, Quang Binh (QBDIT) are jointly planning to build a thermal power plant in Quang Trach, Quang Binh, Vietnam.
The project involves the construction of a 2,400MW thermal power plant on 150ha land. It includes the construction of a power house, sub-stations, chimneys and related infrastructure, the installation of two turbines with 1,200 to 1,320 MW capacity and generators, and the laying of transmission lines.
The project will be developed under build, operate and transfer (BOT) investment model.
On January 28, 2015, IRAO and QBDIT signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to develop the project.
In October 2016, Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has been appointed as study consultant to carry out the pre- feasible studies for the project. IRAO has been replaced by EVN for carrying out studies.
Pre-feasibility studies are underway and construction works are slated for completion in 2029.
