Health and Social Services Department (HSSD) is planning to expand the Jersey General Hospital project in Jersey.
The project involves the construction of two hospitals. It includes the construction of eight operating theaters, an outpatient care center, laboratories, treatment rooms, patient rooms, an emergency department and parking facilities and related facilities.
The project is planned to be implemented in phases.
The first phase includes the expansion of the Overdale hospital at Westmount and the second phase includes the refurbishment of the General Hospital at Gloucester Street in St Helier.
Due to high project cost and long time in development, the planning authorities are reviewing at the timescale and budget and looking forward to other alternatives.
HSSD planned to develop the project in two-sites. However, in June 2015, HSSD has revised the plans decided to develop the project on one site. Exact site for the project is yet to confirmed.
