Hero MotoCorp Limited (HEROMOTOCO) is planning to undertake the motor cycles manufacturing plant in Andhra Pradesh, India.
The project involves the construction of a manufacturing facility with a capacity of 1.8 million two-wheelers per year on 243ha of land in three phases.
The first phase includes the construction of a manufacturing facility with a production capacity of 0.5 million two-wheelers while in the second phase the production capacity will be increased by 0.5 million two-wheelers and in the third phase production capacity will be further increased by 0.8 million two-wheelers.
It includes the construction of manufacturing unit, an assembly unit, a body shop, a paint shop, warehouses and parking and other related facilities, and the installation of machines, safety and security measures, and other equipment.
HEROMOTOCO has signed a preliminary agreement with the Andhra Pradesh state government to develop the project.
In March 2015, Andhra Pradesh government allocated 243ha of land to HEROMOTOCO.
In July 2015, Hyderabad high court ordered HEROMOTOCO not to proceed with construction activities after the allocated land had come under legal dispute.
In August 2015, Hyderabad High Court has vacated a stay on the construction work.
