Highways England (HE) (formerly the Highways Agency), an agency under the Government of the UK, is planning to upgrade a motorway section north of Truro, Cornwall, England, the UK.
The project involves the upgrade of a 14km of single carriageway on A30 road between Carland Cross and Chiverton Cross roundabouts to dual carriageway. It will run to the north of the existing A30 between Chiverton and Chybucca and to the south between Chybucca and Carland Cross.
It includes the construction of support structures, medians, drainage facilities and related infrastructure, and the installation of traffic signals, surveillance systems and information boards.
In March 2014, Parsons Brinckerhoff Group Inc (Parsons), appointed as a technical consultant, published a business case on the proposed plans.
On December 1, 2014, the Chancellor of the Exchequer (CotE), a political office under the federal government, approved a funding of US$156 million for the project.
In March 2015, HE held public engagement events for capturing issues to be considered when developing design proposals for the proposed plans.
In December 2015, Grontmij and Mott MacDonald Ltd were appointed as a design consultant for the project.
In July 2017, HE announced the proposed route for the project.
Subject to finalization of the business case and a detailed design scheme, simultaneously environmental surveys is being also carried out through 2017. Construction is expected to commence in 2020 with anticipated completion by 2022.
