About OLED Material
OLEDs are organic materials-based diodes capable of producing light without needing a source of light for projection. OLEDs are used for two broad applications, namely lighting and displays, which work with the same principle. An OLED panel consists of organic material packed between conductor films, which produce light when electricity is passed through the films. LCD display is a prime substitute for OLEDs in displays. LCD display needs a backlight and filters to emit light, whereas OLED displays does not need these components. Also, OLED lightings are expected to be more power efficient than LEDs. OLED materials can be classified as small-molecule-based light emitting diode and polymer light emitting diodes.
TechNavio's analysts forecast the Global OLED Material market to grow at a CAGR of 21.5 percent over the period 2014-2019.

Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global OLED Material Market 2015-2019
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in Global OLED Material Market 2015-2019: E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Co. (DuPont), Merck KGaA, Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. Sumitomo Chemical Co. Ltd and Universal Display Corp. (UDC)
Other Prominent Vendors in the market are: Doosan Electro-Materials, Dow, Duksan Hi-Metal, Hodogaya Chemical, Idemitsu Kosan, Konica Minolta and LG Chem
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The huge potential of the global OLED material market has led leading vendors such as LG and Samsung to increase their investments in R&D. With the rise in R&D spending, vendors are able to develop a set of technology standards for every end-product. The increase in R&D spending has also led to the development of advanced versions of OLED displays to be used for new applications.”
According to the report, OLED technology offers many advantages over the traditional display and lighting technologies. In addition, the use of organic materials in OLEDs enables energy management by consuming less power. OLED technology also enables end-users to develop compact devices that are thin, flexible, and have transparent panels. OLED display panels have an angle view of 180 degrees, making them an ideal choice for various display devices.
Further, the report states that the limited life span of OLED materials is a challenge that hinders the market growth.
