Press Release
Technavio Announces the Publication of its Research Report – Global Network Management System (NMS) Market 2018-2022
Technavio recognizes the following companies as the key players in the global network management system (NMS) market: Cisco Systems, Dell, Huawei Technologies, HPE
Commenting on the report, an analyst from Technavio’s team said: “The latest trend gaining momentum in the market is Transition toward 5G. The NMS offers technical benefits, such as maintaining data traffic and security, which are expected to drive the 5G technology, once it has been released. As the NMS will pave the way for the 5G technology, it is necessary to understand investments being undertaken to develop 5G. As investments in 5G increases, enterprises will witness a growing demand for NMS.”
According to the report, one of the major drivers for this market is Growing data traffic in enterprises. Exponential data growth in networks is a fundamental challenge for enterprises. The volume of packet data in networks is growing, as enterprises use the Internet for their day-to-day operations. In addition, the network traffic in enterprises is increasing, owing to the rise in the use of instant messaging, VoIP, social networking sites, and video conferencing. The increase in data traffic is reducing the efficiency and predictability of the network. Hence, organizations are now heavily dependent on the NMS to manage data traffic more efficiently. Some network management softwares in the market are HP IMC Enterprise Software Platform, Netcool Network Management by IBM, ManageEngine OpManager, and CisoWork by Cisco. As the NMS can interconnect various networking devices on several network segments, the packet data can be transferred more efficiently. This is expected to drive the growth of the global NMS market.
Further, the report states that one of the major factors hindering the growth of this market is Complex installation process. The installation of NMS is complex in nature, owing to the requirement of high accuracy and number of small processes, such as enabling VLAN ports and provisioning network ports with network configuration. The degree of complexity is less when considering a small network in an enterprise. However, for a large network, such as telecom network backhaul projects, it takes months to install, commission, and integrate all network elements in the NMS. Furthermore, the number of network elements that can be added to one NMS is restricted based on the license fee paid by the customer to the NMS provider. Also, NMS works on proprietary network nodes. For instance, if a cellular operator uses two types of network equipment from vendors, such as Huawei Technologies and Nokia, in that case, the operator will have to deploy two separate NMS to achieve the visibility of nodes. Currently, the integration of products from different vendors in the same NMS platform has not been achieved. Thus, for each equipment, a cellular operator will require a separate NMS. This increases the overall cost of a customer or cellular operator.
