The automotive surround view system puts together a bird's eye view of the car/vehicle, by showing all the sides of the car on the car's display screen. It is an emerging automotive advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology that assists in low speed vehicle maneuvres, such as while parking the vehicle or slow curb side driving. The system primarily helps the driver by allowing him/her to see a top-down view of the 360⁰ surroundings of the vehicle showing lane markings and surrounding vehicles. It normally consists of 4 to 6 wide-angle cameras, known as fish-eye cameras, which are mounted on the vehicle, with each facing a different location. From the camera inputs, a composite view of the surroundings of the vehicle is synthesized and shown on a real-time basis as a high-quality image display in the vehicle.
