As a result, metrology vendors are focusing on moving measurement systems in close proximity to the production line, which led to the advent of shop floor CMMs. Inline CMMs are integrated with an automated production line, whereas semi-inline CMMs are placed next to the production line. The shop-floor CMMs are classified into inline and semi-inline CMMs. Inline CMMs are used for high-speed inspection of manufactured products. In semi-inline CMMs, the manufactured product is placed on the CMM for measuring.
