Containerboard Market in Latin America 2015-2019
Containerboard is used to manufacture corrugated boxes or containers. It consists of an outer surface or facings called linerboard and an intervening fluting called corrugated medium. Linerboard is made from a mixture of Kraft and recycled pulps. A linerboard containing more than 80% virgin Kraft pulp is a Kraftliner and less than 80% is a Testliner. Integrated containerboard manufacturers produce their own raw materials for the production of containerboard. These manufacturers use containerboard to produce corrugated board boxes and also sell standalone corrugated board sheets.
Technavio's analysts forecast the containerboard market in Latin America to grow at a CAGR of 3.12% over the period 2014-2019.

At the Interpack event in 2014, Mondi showcased its kraft portfolio of high-quality containerboard grades suitable for various packaging end-users such as chemical and pharmaceutical.”
According to the report, international vendors are setting up operations in Latin America due to the high demand for packaging in Central and South America. Vendors in Brazil, the major revenue contributor in the region, are increasing their operations either by expanding existing production plants or by acquiring small vendors.
Further, the report states that slow economic growth is a significant challenge hindering the growth of the market, which has caused the domestic demand for packaging products to decrease from 2014-2015.
