Worldwide Specialized Threat Analysis and Protection Forecast, 2015–2019: Defending Against the Unknown
This IDC study explores the significantly growing market for STAP products and forecasts significant growth due to an increased focus on products specifically designed to identify advanced threats. IDC believes the three STAP submarkets will contribute to the significant growth of the overall market. Boundary STAP is the largest market segment and is made up primarily of emulation products designed to identify and analyze suspicious files. The endpoint STAP area is the fastest-growing market, driven by the desire of many organizations to bolster traditional antivirus and identify advanced threats that typically gain initial entry to the corporate network through endpoint systems. The internal network analysis segment is also proving its value to identify attacker reconnaissance activity or an attacker's lateral movement to more sensitive resources on the corporate network."These emerging approaches to detection and containment have largely proven their value to early adopters. Over the next several years, organizations will not only purchase STAP products to bolster existing security investments but be attracted to the benefit of creating a cohesive security system capable of adapting to the rapid pace of change associated with the 3rd Platform," said Pete Lindstrom, research director for IDC's Security Products.
