Worldwide SMB IT Spending by Company Size Categories: 2017–2019
This IDC Market Perspective provides worldwide SMB IT spending estimates for 2018 and 2019 with historical information from 2017. Three SMB size categories are examined: small businesses (firms with 1–99 employees), lower medium-sized businesses (firms with 100–499 employees), and upper medium-sized businesses (firms with 500–999 employees). Spending growth rates are provided for four technology categories: hardware, software, business services, and IT services. The relative share of total SMB IT spending in 2018 is also estimated for North America; Western Europe; Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (CEMA); Asia/Pacific; and Latin America. Recommendations for SMB technology providers are also included."Global SMB spending on advanced technology continues to grow across all categories and will top $600 billion for the first time in 2018," said Raymond Boggs, program vice president, Small and Medium Business Markets at IDC. "Spending increases of $25 billion to $30 billion are expected this year and next, with much of the growth coming from SMB investment in software and services solutions."
