Value and Consumers Disruptively Reign for Payers at World Health Care Congress Conference 2018
This IDC Market Note reviews the key takeaways from IDC Health Insights' analysts who attended the Payer/Health Plan Track of World Health Care Congress 2018 (WHCC18), this year's iteration of the annual U.S. conference. Held April 29-May 2, 2018, in Washington, D.C., the conference drew more than 1,500 health IT professionals, clinicians, and executives and had 15 tracks of education and more than 200 exhibitors."Emphasis on value-based care and consumerism for payers is regional, almost state by state," says Jeff Rivkin, research director for Payer IT Strategies at IDC Health Insights. "You look at the number of payers in a state and the number of major health systems that interact with the public and the payers, and you will get a good barometer of the local competitive consumer landscape, the drive to innovation, and the commitment to value-based care. National conferences such as the WHCC show this dramatically."
