NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier: Delivering Next-Gen Performance for Autonomous Machines
This IDC Perspective looks into the recent NVIDIA Jetson press and analyst event held on December 12, 2018, at the NVIDIA Endeavor office in Santa Clara, California. NVIDIA announced the general availability of its latest compute module for intelligent machines, the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier. This model is 10x smaller than a GPU server and uses 10x less power than a GPU server, yet it can handle the same or better amount of processing. Such a powerful compute module in such a small package is enabling developers of autonomous machines to deliver the next step in performance, thereby helping increase the use case opportunities and reliability of the devices in the market."Especially in the field of robotics, we have been seeing a rapid increase in capabilities coupled with a rapid decrease in cost of robotics technologies," says John Santagate, research director at IDC for Commercial Service Robotics. "Improved capabilities and cost reductions are helping bring flexible automation technology to a much wider range of companies that otherwise might not consider robotics in their operation."
