Japan Small and Medium-Sized Business IT Spending Forecast by Sales Channel, 2017−2021
This IDC study provides performance results for 2016 and forecasts from 2017 to 2021 for IT spending by sales channel in the Japan SMB IT market (hardware and packaged software only). The share of SIs is increasing in all regions. The shift from vendor direct sales and dealers to SIs as the channel for purchasing IT products in SMBs will gain momentum in the future. Moreover, because of the impact of decreasing hardware prices and flagging demand, IDC expects the use of 3rd Platform technologies to progress gradually among SMBs. On the other hand, dealers and SIs in regions outside of metropolitan areas are facing issues with solution businesses that use the 3rd Platform. Therefore, "it is necessary for IT suppliers to offer comprehensive product, sales, and technical support so that they can provide 3rd Platform solutions with a focus on cloud for partner companies," says Hitoshi Ichimura, research manager, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
