Japan IT Security Products Forecast, 2016−2020
This IDC study is a translation of the Japanese document IDC #JPJ40602516, which provides a market size forecast for the Japan IT security product market. This market is categorized into the external threat solution product market, which includes endpoint security, messaging security, Web security and network security, and the internal threat solution product market which includes IAM and SVM. Targeted cyberattacks have become more sophisticated, such as by employing targeted email attacks and zero-day attacks that exploit previously unknown vulnerabilities, rendering the prevention of security breaches more difficult. Because most security incidents are not immediately detected, there is a risk that the extent of an incident and its damage could already be severe by the time the problem surfaces. It will be crucial for user companies to spot critical incidents from among the large volume of security incidents that they detect and respond rapidly to those incidents."IT suppliers should promote the implementation of internal threat solution products among user companies, under the assumption that security breaches will occur. These products offer security management that collect, analyze, monitor, and manage security incident information and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) solutions. IDC believes that damages can be minimized if users utilize risk management to make visible those threats that will become critical from among the numerous security incidents that occur internally, and then rapidly deal with those incidents," says Tsuneo Tosaka, research manager, Software and Security, IDC Japan.
