Japan Hardcopy Industry Transformation and Page Volume Analysis 2015 Top 10 Predictions

This report presents 10 major trends in the Japan print-related market in 2015 and provides an overview of possible changes to the market during that year from such perspectives as the composition of the industry, managed print services (MPS), outsourced document services, hardware, and the effects of the 3rd Platform.

In 2015, mobile- and cloud-related technologies will, within offices, transition from a stage of growing adoption to one of actual use. User companies will need to position themselves to build print and document environments that are premised on mobile technologies and the cloud. In a related matter, IDC predicts that consequential changes will occur in 2015 and will transform the print-related market. Some of these changes will include the development of MPS, the automation of business workflows, and the appearance of BPO document services. Changes concerning large-format printers (LFPs) and production printers will not merely affect printing in offices and homes; vendors in the printing industry will be forced to make strategic shifts. In addition, more widespread adoption of 3D printers may have a profound effect on numerous industries beyond just the print market. IDC Japan Imaging, Printing, and Document Solutions Group Manager Eiji Ishida argues, "Because mobile and cloud technologies will reach the stage in which they are put to actual use in offices, 2015 will be a major time of transformation for the print-related market. Vendors will need to position themselves to propose new work styles that are premised on use of mobile and cloud technologies."
