IDC PeerScape: Practices for Leading IT Transformation
This IDC PeerScape identifies five leadership practices that have been successfully used by CIOs in transforming their IT organizations while helping drive digital transformation (DX) in their enterprises. The practices were selected to be widely applicable across different industries and situations but also for their importance in enterprise digital transformation. The five practices are:Build a solid leadership foundation before attempting to lead DX.Strive for business impact, not perfection.Create an inclusive transformation vision that connects IT workers with business outcomes.Use a process to build relationships with business peers.Shock the system to achieve meaningful change."If CIOs are not effective in leading traditional IT functions, it is unlikely that they will be tapped to lead DX initiatives that are critical to the business," says Marc Strohlein, adjunct analyst with IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP).
