Eating Disorder Clinics in the US
The United States has faced a rising incidence of eating disorders, and eating disorder clinics have provided services to meet the need. However, most individuals suffering from an eating disorder do not receive treatment because of the high costs, lack of information about or stigma associated with treatment. Many public and private health insurers either limit their coverage of eating disorder treatments or exclude it altogether, creating a financial barrier to treatment and industry growth. Despite these constraints and the negative effects of COVID-19 restrictions, industry-wide revenue has been growing at a CAGR of 1.3% over the past five years and is expected to total $4.2 billion in 2023, when revenue will jump an estimated 1.6%.
