Synopsis

Abstract

This IDC study compares the technology preferences of corporate after-hours home offices, telecommuters, mobile workers, and non?home office households. The use of technology by the alternative workstyle segment is compared with non?home office households to highlight areas of opportunity for IT vendors.

"With high levels of IT spending and a strong tendency to adopt IT, the alternative workstyle segment is a great opportunity," says Chris Hazelton, senior analyst SMB/Home Office research. "On the leading edge of IT adoption, these workers show a strong willingness to spend heavily on technology that supports their nontraditional workstyles."
