Mubadala Development Company (MDC), in association with 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), is undertaking the Sarawak aluminum smelter plant project in Malaysia.
The project involves the construction of an aluminum smelter facility with an annual production of 750,000 tons per annum (TPA).
It includes the construction of a warehouse, a pot regulation system, a captive power station, gas treatment facilities, an office facility and parking facilities, and the installation of safety systems and steel containers.
In June 2011, National Economic Council (NEC) has approved the joint venture of 1MDB and MDC to develop the project.
