Analysis by Region - Emerging Markets - Myanmar
We estimate Myanmar's GDP contracted by 6.4% in 2022. We expect persistent conflict and high inflation will subdue consumer demand and weigh on activity. The global environment has also become more challenging due to slower growth and worsening geopolitical tensions, although China's reopening should boost activity. Large downside risks persist, including further conflict and the impact of Cyclone Mocha.
