Approximately 60% of the BOM cost of a land vehicle cockpit display comes from the two main components: the display and the chip. The LCD (or OLED) module, touch module, and optical materials such as glass substrates and polarizers account for about 40% of the cost. Driver chips, automotive-grade MCUs, PCBs, and wiring harnesses account for another 15-20%. The remainder consists of structural components, heat dissipation materials, connectors, and labor costs. Because automotive-grade glass substrates, polarizers, and OLED organic light-emitting materials still heavily rely on foreign manufacturers such as Corning, AGC, and Merck, their bargaining power over key raw materials is weak. Shortages or price increases will directly squeeze the profits of midstream module manufacturers.
