New Zealand ICT Predictions 2015: The 3rd Platform Drives Growth, Disruption, and Innovation

This IDC study presents IDC's predictions regarding the most prominent trends for the entire New Zealand ICT market in 2015. The 3rd Platform, which has been prominent in the last two predictions reports, in 2014 became much more of a "business as usual" way of looking at key ICT focus areas. The 2015 predictions are thus more focussed on tangible opportunities CIOs will take with respect to 3rd Platform technologies, as their organisations' maturity rises. For many CIOs, this year's objective will be to cement their place as a core pillar of their organisation's future success by guiding the organisation through this transition. The organisations that will thrive in this new environment are the ones able to understand how and when the emerging technologies can be utilised to their fullest. This evolution is not one that will occur in isolation from the rest of the business and the CEO, the board, and senior management, guided by the CIO, will need to look at how technology can be integrated into all aspects of the business.

"2015 is shaping up to be an interesting year for vendors, especially in the IT side of the industry. Investment intentions discussed by the various customer bases are likely to start showing some gradual impact on lifting spending. Capturing this spend and remaining at the forefront of market development is, however, going to be no mean feat," says Ullrich Loeffler, managing director, IDC Australia and New Zealand.
