This IDC study reviews the market for SaaS ERP software in 2015. The SaaS ERP market grew strongly in 2015 to reach $16.8 billion, a 18.0% increase over 2014's $14.2 billion. The ERP market growth was driven by demand for public cloud offerings, modern intuitive user experiences, and the quest for digital commerce. However, the on-premises market remains significant as medium-sized to large enterprises are choosing to maintain existing software rather than disrupt their critical business processes surrounding the management of finance, HCM, order management, payroll, procurement, projects, and strategic assets."ERP solutions have moved rapidly to the cloud because organizations of every size need more modern business applications with intuitive user experiences that can help them drive growth and agility while adapting to rapidly changing business models," says Mickey North Rizza, program vice president, Enterprise Applications and Digital Commerce. "However, on-premises ERP solutions remain important as many organizations choose not to disrupt core business functionality in the short term and continue business as usual. Eventually, we expect to see most of these core ERP applications move to the cloud. It is only a matter of time."
