Worldwide Consumer Endpoint Security Forecast, 2019–2023: Security Vendors May Want to Look Elsewhere for Growth

This IDC study presents a five-year forecast for the worldwide consumer endpoint security market as of June 2019. A forecast for this market was last published in Worldwide Consumer Endpoint Security Forecast, 2018-2022: Consumer PC Installed Base Retraction Depresses Market Growth (IDC #US43689618, April 2018). "The new analysis and protection types that have become 'table stakes' in the business endpoint security market have failed to make it to consumers," explains Frank Dickson, IDC research vice president, Security Products. "In addition, the efficacy-based messages of many of the vendors sound similar to consumers, resulting in channel strategies being key to market success. As vendors are looking to differentiate their offerings, rather than focusing on the narrow definition of stopping malware, market messages and product features are increasingly focused on concepts of safety and performance."
