The Telecom Providers in Asia/Pacific: Finding Their Niche in the Cloud Space
This IDC study examines some of the telcos' cloud strategies and how these telcos try to differentiate themselves in the crowded cloud marketplace. Many telcos that have jumped on the cloud bandwagon in the earlier years investing in and providing largely standardized virtual private cloud infrastructure as a service (IaaS), have also begun to adapt their strategies to enable hybrid cloud deployment and cloud brokerage.
"Telcos in the Asia/Pacific region are trying to find their sweet spot in the cloud world. Leveraging the two key assets for cloud deployment such as networks and datacenters, and with the emergence of advanced technologies, telcos are making investments in their datacenters, networks, and cloud infrastructures to deliver more compelling cloud solutions to enterprises. Greater scalability, automation, and on-demand capabilities not only for cloud services but also for networks and network functions are some of the features that telcos are investing in," says Sherlin Pang, senior research manager, Asia/Pacific Telecom Operator Strategies. Please Note: Extended description available upon request.
