This IDC update provides an analysis of cloud market trends in major countries in Latin America. Like other regions in the world, the adoption of cloud services in Latin America is growing at double-digit rates until the next four years, reaching an estimated growth of 25.8% by 2019, worth a total of US$6.5 billion as shown in Figure 1. There are several drivers for this growth, but two are particularly accelerating public cloud adoption. The first one relates to the decrease in traditional investments in datacenters that enable the accelerated adoption of infrastructure as a service (IaaS) that is replacing the traditional purchase of servers, storage systems, and infrastructure management software. The second accelerator of public cloud solutions is the purchase of software as a service (SaaS), mostly solutions to improve human resources and business productivity, and also the solutions to improve the customer experience- or multichannel solutions focused on such purpose.
