This IDC study explores and analyzes the Japan 3rd Platform market with a focus on government, municipals, healthcare, and education segments. These segments are in severe financial environments. Thus, IT vendors are required to invest their own resources, create the 3rd Platform utilization visions together with end users, and build a model that can sustain the efforts based on the 3rd Platform from midterm points of view. In order to successfully sustain these efforts, the key is in realizing a public version of digital transformation (DX), namely, innovating the way services have been provided until now, using the 3rd Platform. If the innovation fails, it is highly likely that the spending will be assessed as no ROI during administrative reform promotion meeting reviews, and efforts on the 3rd Platform utilization cannot be sustained. "Therefore, IT vendors must separate themselves from models requiring resources only in traditional state projects and quickly build models that are created together with clients," says Yayoi Hirose, IT spending group manager, IDC Japan.
