IDC's Japan Cloud Services Taxonomy 2015

IDC's Japan Cloud Services Taxonomy 2015

This IDC study, presents IDC's taxonomy of the cloud services market.

Undoubtedly, cloud is a bright spot in the Japan IT market, which is growing at a slow pace at present. What we should note here, however, is that cloud will improve IT efficiency and cause the Japan IT market to contract since the replacement rate of IT systems will be slowed. Meanwhile, unlike existing IT which is aimed at improving the efficiency of existing business processes, cloud has the potential to be a business platform that leverages IT to create new value. In other words, cloud will enable vendors and users to challenge unexplored businesses that create new value and new IT markets. "Industry-specific cloud will be the key to this platform to drive this new IT market. In the future, it will be important for IT vendors to focus on industry-specific cloud in one form or another," says Satoshi Matsumoto, research manager, IT Services, IDC Japan.
