This IDC Perspective discusses how Tecopesca, a rural Ecuadorian tuna processor, has partnered with NTT DATA to develop IoTrace, a food traceability solution that uses blockchain technology. The visibility of product data not only benefits end consumers but also benefits stakeholders such as Tecopesca's employees and its financiers in novel ways. Once fully implemented, Tecopesca and NTT DATA plan to jointly market the solution to other firms."A generation ago, the idea that scanning a barcode on a can of tuna fish could give you the history of how the fish was caught, moved through processing, and then distributed to your grocery store was the stuff of dreams.
