According to the National Institute of Statistics of Cameroon (NSO), the construction industry’s value-add rose by 5.6% year-on-year (YoY) in Q2 2025, preceded by Y-o-Y growths of 6.8% in Q1 2025 and 8.1% in Q4 2024. To strengthen road-delivery capacity, a new law came into force in January 2026, supporting local bitumen production as a strategic input for road infrastructure; the new law exempts the petroleum bitumen industry from import duties and taxes. In addition, inputs required for local bitumen production will benefit from a reduced 5% customs duty (earlier varying from 5 to 30%) and an exemption from value-added tax (VAT) on imports (earlier 19.3%), which will improve cost competitiveness and supply security for road programmes.

Furthermore, in September 2025, the government approved funding of CFA165.5 billion ($275.5 million), with allocations supporting the construction of the Ngati-Fébadi-Likok road section and the strengthening of electricity transmission lines in the city of Yaoundé, among other priority interventions. Also, in September 2025, the African Development Bank Group signed a loan agreement worth CFA74.8 billion ($124.5 million) to finance a programme focused on building skills, creating jobs and modernising infrastructure in the country’s conflict-affected far north region. It includes a fund for the construction or rehabilitation of 22 training centres and 29 social facilities, expanding access to health and education services, and supporting renewable energy solutions to strengthen climate resilience. Additionally, in September 2025, the government approved CFA111.1 billion ($184.9 million) for Sustainable Cities and Land Management Projects, which will deliver a multi-component urban mobility and drainage package in Yaounde. These funds will see the construction of 28km of roads, which will be newly built or rehabilitated; this includes work on the key four-lane arteries and secondary loops to improve traffic flow in Yaounde, 26km of new roads, notably the ring road connecting Bonamoussadi to PK10 and the East Urban Boulevard.
