SiC (silicon carbide) is a compound semiconductor composed of silicon and carbide. SiC provides a number of advantages over silicon, including 10x the breakdown electric field strength, 3x the band gap, and enabling a wider range of p- and n-type control required for device construction.This report studies the SiC (silicon carbide) devices, cover SiC Modules, SiC MOSFET Discretes, SiC SBD (diodes), SiC JFETs & FETs, etc.SiC MOSFETs eliminate tail current during switching, resulting in faster operation, reduced switching loss, and increased stabilization. Lower ON resistance and a compact chip size result in reduced capacitance and gate charge. In addition, SiC exhibits superior material properties, such as minimal ON-resistance increases, and enables greater package miniaturization and energy savings than silicon (Si) devices, in which the ON resistance can more than double with increased temperature.Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs) feature a small total capacitive charge (Qc) that reduces switching loss while enabling high-speed switching operation. As such they are widely used in the PFC circuits of power supplies. In addition, unlike silicon-based fast recovery diodes where the trr increases with temperature, silicon carbide devices maintain constant characteristics, resulting in better performance. SiC Schottky barrier diodes provide greater reliability in power-conversion systems, making them ideal for battery chargers, solar panels for renewable energy, and electric vehicle charging stations.Automotive is the largest market, hold a share over 65%, mainly used in OBC, DC/DC Converter, etc.Global new energy vehicles continue to grow rapidly.
