One of the greatest challenges for health or wellness tourism is also an opportunity. While there is currently some awareness about the wellness segment of the travel industry, it is limited and sketchy. Potential consumers are both unclear as to this segment's breadth and depth, and have rising expectations that may or may not be merited. Consequently, educating the growing number and types of consumers about wellness, spas and medical tourism is both a challenge and an opportunity. Guiding their expectations will also assure industry success over time.
