Synopsis

Abstract

This IDC study outlines our predictions for the 2013 consumer multiscreen video market. As 2012 comes to an end, the market is in a period of transition. More connected devices are being acquired, many of which are being used for video consumption. Traditional pay TV services are moving beyond the set-top box and the television screen. Device vendors are looking for both competitive differentiation and drivers of replacement and better margins.

"All told, however, change is often incremental, and this period of transition is very much a process of evolution as legacy devices and services coexist with new technologies and distribution and monetization models," says Greg Ireland, research manager, Multiscreen Video at IDC.
