PCI Data Security Standard

In 2010, more than $16 trillion US was transacted by consumers and businesses worldwide, with each transaction requiring some level of presenting personal and financial information. Privacy and security of personal information is paramount to the physical and virtual transaction processes. The Payment Card Industry has long recognized the importance of protecting personal information and personal data with proven record of decreased instance of security breaches among member banks and vendors. The PCI Data Security Standard addresses the concerns of consumers and merchants, to maintain the authenticity and integrity of payment card information outside the over arching control of bureaucratic regulators.
