Global Interventional Radiology

As the applications and procedures associated with it have expanded, Interventional Radiology has grown as a medical specialty. The most common interventional radiology procedures include: angiography, balloon angioplasty, biliary drainage and stenting, central venous access, embolization, chemo-embolization, and uterine artery embolization. Additional procedures involving interventional radiology are: needle biopsies, gastronomy tubes, hemodialysis access and maintenance, thrombolysis, and transjugular intrahepatic portosystem shunt (TIPS). Catheter-based diagnostic and therapeutic tools such as rapid-exchange catheters and transcatheter applications have been recently introduced along with ceratoid artery stenting, as new approaches to current treatments of peripheral vascular diseases using newer stent technologies. Because interventional radiology markets are highly competitive, it is vital those companies remain on the cusp of the market and that they be able to provide the newest technologies to clients as soon as possible. Many companies are focusing on reducing procedure failures through research and development. That, combined with consistently positive relationships with regulatory bodies and healthcare professionals are necessary in order to maintain a competitive position in the market.
