Europe District Public Affairs (USACE) is undertaking the Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center Replacement complex with a total gross floor area of 120,000m2 in Weilerbach, Kaiserslautern, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

The project is being built in four phase.

The first phase involves the construction of a medical clinic with total gross floor area of 46,500m2, nine operating rooms, 120 examination rooms, an occupational therapy center, traumatic brain injury treatment facility an orthopaedic clinic, primary care facilities, laboratories, 12 operating theaters, intensive care facility, an inpatient facility, a diagnostic center, and the installation of medical equipment and the installation of medical equipment and security systems.

The second phase involves the construction of a medical center with diagnosis and treatment facilities with gross floor area of 35,700m2, an ambulance garage with gross floor area of 300m2, pharmacological services, outpatient sampling, clinical laboratories, sterilization center and operating rooms.

The third phase involves the construction of a 70 beds medical center ward with a gross floor area of 24,600m2 and a FMD-building with gross floor area of 1,900m2, normal and intensive care facilities, supply and disposal facilities, a cafeteria with 200 seats.

The fourth phase involves the construction of an administrative building with gross floor area of 10,800m2 and a chapel 200m2, meeting rooms, conference halls, a warehouse building with a gross floor area of 7,300m2, a two-story parking facility for 2,400 cars.

Landesbetriebs Liegenschafts- und Baubetreuung (LBB) has been appointed as an associated developer.

The HOK (formerly Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum) and HWP Planungsgesellschaft were appointed as the design consultants and general planners for the project.

In February 2016, design contract awarded to HDR TMK Planungsgesellschaft mbH.

In 2016, a geotechnical and supervision contract was awarded to IGB Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH.

L.A.U.B. Gesellschaft für Landschaftsanalyse und Umweltbewertung mbH has been appointed as the landscape architect for the project.

Müller BBM Schalltechnisches Beratungsbüro has been appointed as consultant.

The federal government is funding with an amount of US$159 million for the project.

On October 24, 2014, the official ground breaking ceremony was held for the project.

Planning activities are underway for construction permits.
