Reseau Ferre de France (RFF) is undertaking the LGV PACA High-Speed Railway Line in France.
The project involves the construction of a 200km high-speed railway line. The project will be developed in phases and each phase will have two sections.
The first section of the first phase of the project includes the construction of a railway line between Marseille and Aubagne and an underground station at Saint-Charles. The second section of the first phase involves the construction of a railway line between Cannes and Nice and stations at Nice Airport and Alpes-Maritimes.
The first section of the second phase of the project includes the construction of a railway line between Aubagne and Toulon and a station at Toulon. The second section involves the construction of a railway track between Le Muy and Cannes and Est Var railway station and other related facilities.
It will include the construction of platforms, access roads, parking facilities, tunnels, bridges and the installation of signalling systems, communication system and other related facilities.
In July 2013, a report was published by a guarantor of post public debate consultations.
October 2013, the Minister for Transport took a decision to accelerate studies for the desaturation of Marseilles railway junctions and the French Riviera, to obtain a declaration of public utility in 2018.
In 2014, the RFF identified three possible routes for the passage of the rail line.
In March 2015, the appointment of a new guarantor took place for the second phase of post-debate public consultation.
The Geotechnical study contract was awarded to Fondasol in June 2015.
In September 2015, RFF took a decision not to hold a new public debate about the project.
In April 2016, the steering committee validated the public consultation process on variant routes of the railway line.
The public consultation process commenced in between May 2016 and 9 January 2017.
On January 11, 2018, at the meet of the Infrastructure Orientation Council (IOC), President of the IOOC declared his will to construct the Nouvelle Provence Côte d'Azur Line.
The LN PCA project is expected to be included in the reports to be submitted by the IOC at the end of January on priority transport infrastructure projects.
Study activities are underway and awaiting for the approvals for all the sections.
