The Ministry of Railways (MoR) is planning to build a railway line from Missamari in Assam to Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh, India.

The project involves the construction of a 378km railway line along with related infrastructure. It includes the construction of stations and related facilities, the installation of signaling systems and communication systems, and the laying of railway lines.

In November 2010, Ministry of Defense approved the preliminary funding for the project.

MoR commenced a detailed engineering survey in October 2014.

In early 2015, Railway Board issued a letter for conducting the final location survey of the proposed railway line. The survey, which will be conducted jointly by the railways with the government of Arunachal Pradesh and the Defence Ministry, will look at identifying the suitable alignment.

MoR is expecting the Defence Ministry to release funds for the survey because of its strategic location.

In October 2015, final location survey and detailed Geo-technical studies are underway.

In July 2016, the final location survey for the project is underway.

As of June 2017, final location survey works are underway.

The project involves the construction of a 378km railway line along with related infrastructure from Missamari to Tawang in India.
