PT Angkasa Pura I (AP I) is planning to undertake the expansion of Sultan Hasanuddin International Terminal in South Sulawesi, Indonesia.
The project involves the expansion of airport with terminal handling capacity from 7.5 million passengers per year to 50 million passengers per year on 80ha of land. It will be developed in four phases.
In the first phase it will accommodate 15 million passengers having terminal size 120,000m2. The second phase will accommodate 20 million passengers having terminal size 200,000m2.
In the third phase, it includes the construction of a 100,000m2 second passenger terminal with a capacity of 30 million passengers.
In the fourth phase, it will accommodate 50 million passengers over its two terminals. For this phase, the main terminal will be expanded to 250,000m2 and second terminal will be doubled to 200,000m2.
The project will include the expansion of baggage handling facility, rapid exit taxiways, departure lounge, and security screening areas, and the installation of air traffic control system, navigation and surveillance systems.
AP I signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Vinci Airports, an airport operator from France, for the development.
In February 2015, AP I acquired 60ha of land.
Planning activities are underway.
