Description

Slurry Supply Systems are a combination of equipment and piping used to prepare, store, transport and distribute slurries in industrial production, especially in semiconductor manufacturing, chemical industry and mining. Slurry is usually a mixture of liquid and solid particles, such as chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurry in semiconductor manufacturing or ore slurry in mineral processing. The main function of the system is to ensure that the slurry remains uniform, stable and accurate throughout the production process while meeting process requirements.

Such systems usually include several core components: a mixing tank for mixing solid particles with a liquid matrix (such as water or chemical solvent) into a slurry; a storage tank (or daily tank) for storing the prepared slurry; a pumping system (such as a centrifugal pump or peristaltic pump) responsible for transporting the slurry from the storage tank to the point of use; a filter device to remove impurities or oversized particles to ensure slurry quality; and a distribution system (such as a valve manifold or nozzle) to accurately deliver the slurry to the process equipment. In addition, many systems are also equipped with metering and monitoring equipment, such as flow meters, pressure sensors and pH detectors, to adjust the concentration, viscosity and distribution uniformity of the slurry in real time.

In semiconductor manufacturing, the slurry supply system is particularly critical because it directly supports the CMP process and is used to flatten the wafer surface to achieve nanometer-level precision. It requires high-reliability design, such as dual pipeline circulation to avoid downtime, or pumpless pressure-driven system to reduce particle agglomeration. The advantage of the system is that it can continuously supply high-quality slurry, reduce waste and improve production efficiency. But the challenge lies in the complexity of maintenance (regular cleaning is required to prevent clogging) and cost (high-precision equipment and materials are expensive). In addition, the chemical properties of the slurry may change over time, and stability must be maintained by stirring or nitrogen blanketing.
