A single channel analog-to-digital converter is an electronic device or circuit used to convert continuously changing analog signals into discrete digital signals. A single channel ADC samples analog signals from a single input channel and quantizes them into corresponding digital values at each sampling point. The conversion process includes two main stages: sampling: the analog signal is measured and recorded within a certain time interval, obtaining a series of discrete sampling values. Quantization: The sampling value is converted into the closest digital value, usually represented by a fixed number of binary digits, and this process is called quantization. The performance of a single channel ADC is typically measured by several key indicators: Resolution: the ability of the quantizer to accurately represent analog signals as digital signals, representing the number of bits of digital output. For example, a 12 bit ADC can convert an analog signal into 2 ^ 12=4096 different digital values. Sampling Rate: Indicates the number of times ADC samples an analog signal per second. The sampling rate determines the ADC"s ability to capture and represent the rapidly changing parts of the analog signal. Accuracy: refers to the error between the digital value output by the ADC and the true value of the original analog signal. High accuracy means that the output of the converter is closer to the actual input signal. Bandwidth: Refers to the frequency range of analog signals that ADC can process. The wider the bandwidth, the ADC can process higher frequency signals. Single channel ADC plays an important role in many electronic devices and systems, providing an interface between the analog and digital fields, enabling digital systems to process and interpret analog signals from the external world.
