The medical intermittent pneumatic compression system is a medical device that applies external pressure to the limbs or trunk through periodic inflation/deflation of the air bag to promote venous return, prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT), improve lymphatic circulation or assist blood circulation. Its working principle simulates the action of human muscle pump and is suitable for patients with postoperative immobilization, long-term bed rest, lymphedema, etc. The IPC system usually consists of an air pump, a pressure controller, a wearable sleeve and a sensor (high-end model), supports gradient, synchronous or alternating pressure modes, and can adjust pressure parameters (30–120 mmHg) according to clinical needs.
