An infrared emitting diode is an electronic device used to emit infrared light. It is a semiconductor diode that is forward biased by applying a voltage to activate the recombination process of electrons and holes, thereby producing infrared light radiation. Infrared emitting diodes usually use semiconductor materials, such as gallium arsenide (GaAs) or indium selenide (InSe). These materials have narrow energy band gaps that allow them to emit radiation in the infrared light band. Generally, the operating wavelength range of infrared emitting diodes is from 700 nanometers to 1 millimeter, covering the near-infrared, mid-infrared and far-infrared bands. Infrared emitting diodes are widely used in infrared communications, infrared remote control, infrared sensing and infrared imaging. They can be used to send infrared signals for wireless communication or remote control functions. At the same time, infrared emitting diodes can also be used in infrared sensors and infrared cameras to sense and capture the infrared radiation of targets by emitting infrared light to achieve infrared imaging and infrared detection.
