HPHT (High-Pressure High-Temperature) lab-grown rough diamonds are synthetic or cultured diamonds created through a specific method that replicates the conditions found deep within the Earth"s mantle where natural diamonds are formed. In the HPHT process, high pressure and high temperature are applied to a carbon source, causing carbon atoms to arrange themselves into a crystal lattice structure, forming a diamond.

HPHT technology involves placing a carbon source (usually a small diamond seed or carbon substrate) into a growth cell. The cell is subjected to extreme heat (up to 2,200 degrees Celsius) and high pressure (about 1.5 million pounds per square inch), replicating the conditions found in the Earth"s mantle. Under these conditions, carbon atoms from the source bond together to create a larger diamond crystal.

Like natural diamonds, HPHT lab-grown rough diamonds are composed of carbon atoms arranged in a diamond lattice structure. This gives them the same chemical composition and physical properties as natural diamonds. HPHT lab-grown rough diamonds can exhibit a range of colors and clarity characteristics, similar to natural diamonds. They may be used for gem-quality diamonds, industrial applications, or research purposes.
