This IDC study aggregates segments of key technology market forecasts that make up the worldwide unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) ecosystem. The segments that have been aggregated for this study represent IDC's estimates on customer usage of UC&C technologies, instead of a total available market estimate for all technologies that are UC&C capable."Although COVID-19 is expected to reduce overall IT spending across many technology areas in the first three quarters of 2020, the video and collaboration area in particular was not negatively impacted. In fact, because of organizations needing to quickly provision for many employees who are suddenly working from home, many vendors and service providers saw exponential growth in 1H20 in the number of video and collaboration users," says Rich Costello, research director, IDC's Unified Communications and Collaboration program. "In 4Q20 and beyond, it's expected that worldwide UC&C growth will be driven by customers across all business size segments (small, midsize and large) with interest especially in cloud solutions (i.e., UCaaS), video, collaboration and mobile applications, and digital transformation projects."
