European Telecommunications Capex Forecast, 2021-2026

European Telecommunications Capex Forecast, 2021-2026

This IDC Market Forecast provides a European forecast for CSP capex in 2019–2026. The capex forecast is broken down into France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the U.K., other Western European countries, and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). Capex includes investments in tangible assets and excludes spectrum costs and other extraordinary costs such as sports rights. "Even if COVID-19 has negatively impacted network rollout plans during lockdown periods, CSPs have continued to invest in their infrastructure," said Bruno Teyton, senior research director, European Networking and Life-Cycle Services. "Telecom operators in Europe will decrease their investments at 0.3% CAGR over 2021-2026 and improve their investment efficiency after peaking in 2024. Telecom operators need to upgrade fixed networks, prepare the rollout of 5G standalone (SA), and modernize their OSS and monetization systems. However, they are facing new challenges such as supply chain disruption and inflation."
