Over the remainder of the forecast period, the Italian construction industry is however expected to recover in 2027 and register an average annual growth of 1.4% from 2027 to 2029, supported by public and private sector investments in transport and energy infrastructure. In November 2025, an Italian state railway company Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS) announced an investment of EUR20 billion ($21.8 million) until 2034, to implement the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) in the Italian railway network, along with network digitalization, energy sourcing, and fleet upgrades.
